Local Elections are held today in the Republic of Kosovo

Prishtina, 17 October 2021– Today in the Republic of Kosovo are held Local Elections in the Republic of Kosovo, the seventh in a row for Municipal Assemblies and the fifth for Mayors.

Elections are held to elect 38 Mayors and members of 38 Municipal Assemblies.

According to the final list certified by the Central Election Commission, the number of citizens with the right to vote is: 1 million 885 thousand 448, or 90 thousand 586 more voters compared to the early elections for the Assembly of Kosovo that were held on February 14, 2021.

The number of new voters who will vote for the first time is: 41 thousand 12 voters, of which 24 thousand 697 have reached the age of 18 after February 14, 2021 and 8 thousand 937 voters who can be considered to be registered for the first time in the central civil register after the last parliamentary elections. Also, as new voters, are considered 7 thousand 378 voters who were provided with documents of the Republic of Kosovo after the February 14 elections and who were removed from the voter list because they had only identification documents issued by UNMIK.

The number of polling stations throughout the Republic of Kosovo is 883 with a total of 2,477 polling stations.

The total number of certified candidates for participation in the Local Elections 2021 is 5,364 candidates (M 3,413; F: 1,951), of which 166 candidates for Mayors (M 152; F 14) and 5,198 candidates for Municipal Assemblies (M 3,261; F 1,937).
